Simply Fantastic - Flood - Tolerant Rice

Was reading this article on CNN last weekend, and thought would be wonderful to share this one.
Researchers came up with this hybrid rice, which can survive flood for many days.

-flood-tolerant rice could survive 17 days in complete flood Vs. ordinary rice which survives 3 days.

- That could save about 4 million ton of rice, which is equivalent to feeding 30 million people.
- About half of the worldn't population eats Rice as a staple.

SCARY ----- China to allow free Yuan trade .....................

China is going to allow fee Yuan trade, So what does it mean to US economy ?

We still love $, but not for too long, countries around the world have already started moving away from transaction in US $, so everyone is ready to take their self away, but no one wants it to fall sharply..

so long term effect would be bearish for the dollar and bullish for gold.

Isreal Vs Gaza ?

Ever since Isreal started pounding bombs on Gaza boarder, there have been some international reaction. I agree it is never humanitarian act to kill civilians, but isn't any contry has right to protect their citizens ?, so does Isreal.

Isreal is too small to shrink, they can't afford any attacks from countries around it. Sharing boarders with about half dozen muslim countries is not a joke, India never reacted in such a aggresive way with neighboring country, we all know what is happening to citizen of India...

What will happen now ?, it is pretty obvious Arab countries will try to support Gaza, they don't fight directly with USA or Isreal or any high profile countires, simply they would support Gaza. That draws away international attention from India-Pakistan relationship, which is been getting stressfull. Iran got a reason to gather muslims around the world to support Hamas....

What does the Analysis say ?
http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1051210.html
Meanwhile, the diplomatic arena is quiet. Israel discounts today's meeting of European Union foreign ministers and the urgent calls from the United Nations secretary general and the foreign ministers of Britain and France for an immediate cease-fire. No senior envoy is on the way to Israel to stop the fighting. The Bush White House is very pleased with the blow struck against Hamas

Isn't Perspective a wonderful thing ?

Usually I listen to Dr. Laura when I drive home for lunch, not that I agree with her all the time, but I like to listen to it anyhow....

I just came across this one letter that was posted on her website, and that really touched my soul, would like to share with you...

One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live.

They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.

On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, 'How was the trip?''

It was great, Dad.

''Did you see how poor people live?' the father asked.

'Oh yeah,' said the son.

'So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?' asked the father

The son answered: 'I saw that we have one dog and they had four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon. We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve us, but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them.'

The boy's father was speechless.

Then his son added, 'Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are.'Isn't perspective a wonderful thing? Makes you wonder what would happen if we all gave thanks for everything we have, instead of worrying about what we don't have.
